Each Bruce Merrin Lunch is anchored by a featured guest chosen for what they'll add to the room. For October 15, we're welcoming KLAS TV sportscaster Ron Futrell to The Stirling Club.
Four decades of Las Vegas sports, from the man who covered it.
Ron Futrell has covered sports in Las Vegas since 1984. A sports anchor and reporter at KLAS 8 News Now, he has covered Super Bowls, World Series, Stanley Cup Finals, NBA Finals, and NCAA Championships, along with the careers of Las Vegas athletes including Andre Agassi, Greg Maddux, Randall Cunningham, and Mike Tyson.
He is perhaps best known for covering UNLV basketball through its glory days. For ten years he hosted the Jerry Tarkanian television show, a seat that gave him the inside story on one of the most remarkable teams college basketball has seen. He was also the first to teach sports broadcasting classes at UNLV.
